Dog & Cat Behaviour Consultations

Helping you understand your dog or cat and build a happier relationship

Behavioural problems can be frustrating, worrying and sometimes difficult to manage, especially when you are dealing with barking, anxiety, aggression, fear or changes in your dog or cats behaviour.

At Dr Lloyd’s Mobile VetCARE, we provide behavioural consultations in the comfort of your own home, where your pet is often more relaxed and we can see the environment in which the behaviour mostly occurs.

Rather than simply treating the behaviour itself, we take the time to understand why it may be happening. Behaviour can be influenced by fear, anxiety, previous experiences, environmental factors, learning, age and, importantly, underlying medical conditions or pain.

Why a home behavioural consultation?

A clinic environment can sometimes hide the very behaviour you’re trying to understand. At home, we can observe your dog’s or cat’s behaviour in familiar surroundings and look at factors such as the home environment, routines, interactions with family members and other pets.

A home consultation can also be particularly helpful for dogs who are fearful, anxious, reactive or difficult to transport.

A whole-pet approach

Behavioural changes can sometimes be the first indication that something isn’t quite right medically. As veterinarians, we can assess your pet’s physical health alongside their behaviour and determine whether pain, illness, medication or another medical issue could be contributing.

Depending on your dog or cats needs, we may recommend:

  • Behaviour modification and management strategies
  • Environmental changes
  • Recommend a qualified trainer for more tailored training and positive reinforcement techniques
  • Further veterinary investigation
  • Medication where appropriate

Our goal isn’t simply to stop an unwanted behaviour. It’s to understand your pet, identify the factors contributing to the behaviour and give you practical strategies that you can realistically use at home.

Behaviour is communication. Let’s work out what your dog or cat is trying to tell you. 🐾

Behavioural concerns we can help with

Our behavioural consultations can assist with issues in dogs and cats such as:

  • Fear and anxiety
  • Aggression or reactive behaviour
  • Problem barking
  • Separation-related behaviours
  • Destructive behaviour
  • Veterinary phobia
  • Fear of people, noises or particular situations
  • Resource guarding
  • Toileting problems
  • Changes in behaviour in older dogs
  • Introducing a new pet or baby into the household

Dr Lloyd’s Mobile Vet is the best vet we could have asked for. We adopted our two cats, Timmy (2) and our elderly girl Bella (17), from SoCares last year, and Dr Adelle had already been caring for them before they came home with us. We’re so glad we stayed with them. Home visits have made vet care so accessible for us since I don’t drive. Having them come to us also made things so much easier on the cats. Bella needed a lot of support in her later years, including monthly arthritis injections and help managing her dementia. Dr Adelle looked after her with real care every visit. Timmy is usually scared of everyone, but he absolutely loved playing with Matt while Dr Adelle tended to Bella. That says a lot about the kind of people they are. They’ve always been flexible and accommodating, and their pricing is very reasonable. Dr Lauren has also been fantastic and Bella and Timmy really liked her. When it was time to say goodbye to Bella, they were incredibly empathetic and respectful. They made sure my partner, Timmy and I had time with her at home, and then took her away in a comfy bed full of blankets. It meant more to us than we can say. Thank you, Adelle, Matt and Lauren for everything you did for Bella and for us. You’re the best vet we’ve ever had, and we’ll be calling you for all our future pets.

Dr. Lloyd has been taking care of our dog since we adopted him five years ago, and we couldn’t ask for a better vet. Having her come directly to our home is incredibly convenient and makes the whole experience completely stress-free. Our dog, Jet, absolutely loves her—as soon as her car pulls up, he rushes straight out the door to greet her! She has done a fantastic job helping us manage his allergies through monthly injections and personalised care, keeping him comfortable and healthy year-round. If you are looking for compassionate, professional, and convenient mobile vet care, I would highly recommend Dr. Lloyd!

I came across Dr Lloyd mobile service out of neccesity when I was told by the another vet practise that our 1 dog was too stressed to get basic health checks done without anaesthesia. That's when we found Dr Lloyd Mobile Vet Service. Now 5 years on, Dr Lloyd, Matt and the teams geniune care, empathy and patience have helped us too succesfully manage all our senior dogs arthritis, and supported us through palliative care and at home farewell for our sweet, Pancake. All our senior dogs have gotten a new lease of life, thanks to Dr Lloyd and her team. They handles going into vets office when they needs a scan or surgery, much much better now as well, all thanks to Dr Lloyd.

We have had the benefit of Dr Lloyd's veterinary care for our two miniature schnauzers for several years. She is highly skilled, very professional and responsive to the issues our dogs have had. We continue use her services. Our dogs are far less stressed when treated at our house instead of at a veterinary hospital. We have no hesitation in recommending Dr Lloyd's Mobile VetCARE to anyone who wants excellent veterinary care for their pets
